               CE Social Studies  Training Program's   First Face to Face  Session Reflection

Introduction
This professional development program was proposed for Social Studies of AKES (Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan) - Aga Khan Lyceum, Khorog (Tajikistan) and Aga Khan School in Osh (Kyrgyzstan).  This training course aimed to engage participants in discussion and reflection of current methodologies associated with teaching History, Geography, Economics and Citizenship (Social Studies) of different ages in two (Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan) learning contexts. Participants were introduced to, discuss and practice a wide variety of strategies and techniques for teaching Social Studies.  Course Participants (CPs) engaged in a continuous process of exploring, discussing and reflecting upon the notions of citizenship, human rights, historical events and news, inquiry geographical and economics topics. 

First Day 
 The first week was planned orientation and face to face first practical sessions. CPs  of two contexts introduced themselves   in a interactive way  I requested them to get  M&Ms sweets as many as they want. After that CPs was requested to speak about themselves using the number of chosen sweets: if they have 6 pieces they have to make 6 sentences about themselves. This activity was so unexpected and interesting because AKS, Osh teachers and other government school teachers got information about each other.
In the next activity CPs shared their expectations through answering to the following questions:
                      Why are you here in this course?
                      What are you going to use?
                      What one question do you like to ask?
                       How are you going to use learned material?  
  CPs shared their expectations and  objectives through drawing their  hands and writing on the palms: on the first expectations and  objectives and on the  second hand  they wrote metaphorical names and added small information  about yourself.
 The course objectives and requirements were presented  and answered the course participants questions.
 First day  CPs  were requested  to open their g-mails  and to practice  sending to each other e-mails:

After opening  the gmail addresses  CPs worked in Goggle + where they added each other to  own circle in order  share  their learning  experiences, project ideas , successes and challenges,  and also  solution ideas.


Second activity was creating the bloggers. CPs got acquainted with the purpose of blogger through presentation and started to create own bloggers. After creating blogger CPs started to practice writing first reflections on the first day and sending each other messages.

CPS liked the activity with 6 hats where they analyzed their learning, teaching through utilizing modern technology in their classes.  They have discussed   adventures and disadvantages   of ICT classes. They also shared the condition at school that there is no good internet connection in each school and suggested to each other possible solutions.  





They got reading   about blogging and  sending e-mails to review at home and   practice writing short information about   first face to face session. 
Definitely at first time  two-three CPs  have faced challenges in working with computer because they have never used computer in their work.Overall  result was not bad it was so productive because CPs  managed to open e-mails  and practice creating blogging and  sharing reflections to each other through blogger and  e-mails.
